Dr Sangeet Bhullar
Sangeet is the founder of the ‘Digital and People Project’, a partnership she runs with her husband Dr Gareth Loudon, and other associates. She is also the founder of WISE KIDS a non-profit company which promotes Innovative, Positive and Safe Internet Use.
Sangeet is passionate about the transformative potential of technologies to deliver better education, community and business development. She spends her time developing and delivering training programmes, consultancy and research which supports professionals and young people to develop their ‘digital copmpetency’ so that they are able to harness the benefits from digitally connected technologies and environments, whilst keeping safe online.
Sangeet is frequent keynote speaker and trainer at conferences and events internationally. She has developed and delivering training programmes, led research, written guidance, advised schools, libraries and other organisations on the topics of New Media and Digital Literacy, Digital Inclusion, Digital Professionalism, Digital Citizenship and Online Safety. Her work has encompassed clients as diverse as the Ministry of Education in Singapore, schools across the UK, youth organisations, children’s services, medical professionals, police and more. She has also made film clips for the BBC WebWise site, advising parents and children on online safety issues on new media platforms. She recently led a large-scale WISE KIDS research project called ‘Generation 2000‘ (in partnership with the Children’s Commissioner for Wales, Logicalis and S4C) which explored the Digital Media Habits and Digital Literacy of more than 2000 Year 9 pupils across Wales. She is a member of the Welsh Government’s Digital Inclusion Management Board, an associate member of the UK Council for Child Internet Safety. She is also a member of the National Crime Agency’s CEOP (Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre). She tweets as @sangeet.
